Find out how the British International Curriculum can give you even more opportunities than a Namibian public education.  ### The Disadvantages of the Namibian Curriculum Many Namibian students stick to the local curriculum options simply because it's what they know. But if your child is considering international universities, there are some limitations that you may want to consider.  - **Limited Scope** –The Namibian courses have a tendency to have a narrow focus in their learning, drilling deep into specific subjects, however that leaves less time for broader learning. This can often mean that students focus more on acing tests than truly understanding the material, especially in subjects like science and math. - **Variety of educational quality** –The quality of education throughout Namibia varies between different schools. - **Outdated curriculum** –The Namibian curriculum does not keep pace with global education standards or focus on staying relevant within the current job markets. - **Global competitiveness** –While the Namibian high school qualifications are recognised within the country, it doesn't have the global recognition of A Levels, making it harder to enter international universities. - **Hard to access** –Because Namibia is such a vast country, education can be hard to access. This causes gaps within the educational system.   ### British International Curriculum Equivalencies Namibia operates with the Namibia Senior Secondary Certificate (NSSC) system. This system has been adapted from the Cambridge system, so there are some direct correlations with the sections of the British International Curriculum.    | Namibian Curriculum | British Curriculum Equivalencies | | --- | --- | | NSSC’s | IGCSEs | | NSSCH | A Levels |   ### Advantages of Studying the British International Curriculum Studying A-Levels or IGCSEs through the British International Curriculum in Namibia could be the perfect choice for you. Here's why: **Global Accreditation**: A Levels and IGCSEs are recognised worldwide, including in Namibia, but also in the UK, USA, Canada, and all over Europe. Unlike other programs like the International Baccalaureate (IB), there are no set requirements, giving you the freedom to tailor your studies to your passions.  **Fluctuating Exam Model**: A Levels and IGCSEs have exam dates throughout the year, so you can sit exams when you're ready. This enables you to take the exam when it's best for you and gives you more opportunities to resit if needed.  **High-Quality:** By following the British International Curriculum one can ensure that the level of education is both high as well as consistent.  By choosing the British International Curriculum in Namibia, you'll embark on a journey of academic excellence and personal growth.
